Winchester brothers team up as Belfast football club continues recruitment drive

St James' Swifts have been active in the transfer market

A West Belfast junior football club has continued its impressive recruitment campaign with another signing who is well-known to one of the club's stars.


St James' Swifts recently announced the capture of former Irish League defender Conor McDermott who was previously with Cliftonville, Coleraine and most recently Loughgall.


They also have ex-Irish League aces Garry Breen and Jude Winchester in their ranks, and now they have another Winchester signed up.

Ciaran is Jude's brother, and has joined St James from Willowbank.


The club said on social media: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Ciaran Winchester from Willowbank. Ciaran joins his brother Jude, after hearing the clubs ambitions and we are delighted to have him on board.

"A player that was highly sought after by many clubs, and hopes to help the club push on over the next coming seasons. Welcome to the club Ciaran."


Player and committee member Joseph McCall added: "We are delighted to get Ciaran on board. It is another statement of intent from the club and we have big ambitions to progress through the leagues.

"We also signed Conor McDermott, Mini Heaney and Joe Diver recently to bolster the squad, so hopefully we can kick on now.

"Having Ciaran and Jude at the club is a real coup, and no doubt it will add some sibling rivalry to the squad."
