Westlink Belfast clear after early morning two vehicle crash

The busy dual carriageway reopened after 7am

The Westlink is now clear after it was blocked earlier this morning following a two vehicle crash, police have said.

Two lanes of the dual carriageway city-bound were blocked after a two vehicle crash between the Westlink and York Street this morning, October 7.

Motorists were advised to seek an alternative route, however, in an update issued shortly after 7am police confirmed the busy road has since reopened ahead of rush hour.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "The West Link near York Street in Belfast is now clear following an earlier collision."

An earlier update from the police read: "Road users are advised that lanes one and two of the West Link, city-bound, are obstructed following a two-vehicle collision at the junction between the West Link and York Street this morning, Tuesday, 7th October. Delays are expected. Please seek an alternative route for your journey if possible."
