Tomas Cosgrove shares Kenny Bruce holiday offer and trophy-lifting routine

Larne's players are celebrating after winning the Irish Premiership title for the first time in the club's history

They may have two games remaining this season but Larne's history makers are already eyeing up a break in the sun.

Tiernan Lynch's men will get their hands on the Gibson Cup after Friday night's game against Linfield at Inver Park.

They will then complete their campaign away to Coleraine next Saturday, bringing the curtain down on an incredible season which saw Larne win their first Premiership title in their 134-year history.

The pressure is off Lynch and his players, and the celebrations have been ongoing since last Friday's win over Crusaders which clinched the championship.

Captain Tomas Cosgrove says the squad are ready to let their hair down, with club owner Kenny Bruce teasing a potential sunshine break in Marbella for the club's heroes.

"I don't know what's happening yet. There's talk about us going away, so all the boys are delighted about that," Cosgrove told Belfast Live's That's What I Call Football podcast.

"Kenny (Bruce) put it into the chat so all the boys are discussing things. We are going to have a good time.

"We're not too sure yet, but it could be Marbella."

Cosgrove was part of Clifrtonville's squad that famously won back-to-back titles in 2013 and '14.

After their first Gibson Cup some players celebrated with tattoos of red balloons during a break in Spain.

Asked if more ink work was in store this summer, Cosgrove joked: "If you saw Marc Smyth's tattoo you would actually be put off for life. His was a disgrace.

"But we will try and talk someone into doing it, someone like Paul O'Neill. He would be up for doing it.

The celebrations have been flowing since last Friday night following Larne's title-winning win over the Crues.

Asked if he had sobered up, Cosgrove said: "Just about. I had to take the kids out on Saturday so that's the only reason I was sober.

"I say I went home early but it was 4.30am by the time I left. My last words to Aaron Donnelly were 'get that eejit Paul O'Neill home safely.

"I then got a phone call from Aaron just saying: 'Ring Paul'.

"So that shows you how it went."

As for Friday's title presentation, Cosgrove says he will don the full Larne kit and shin pads despite being suspended for the Linfield game.

"I will be wearing the full kit. Aaron (Donnelly) is suspended as well and he is doing cut socks and everything," Cosgrove laughed.

"I can't go out in a tracksuit. I have to go out in the kit.

"I will let the boys do what they have to do and get the win and then we will celebrate."

When it comes to lifting the Gibson Cup on Friday night, Cosgrove says he will keep things simple when he gets his hands on the famous trophy.

"I will just kiss it and hold it over my head - and let the boys go mental. Then we will fill it with drink and have a good night, that's it," he laughed.

"I can't wait."
