PSNI update after Belfast train station attack on multiple people

PSNI are treating the incident as a racially motivated hate crime

An attack by two people at a Belfast train station that saw multiple people injured is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime, the PSNI has said.


Police issued an appeal for information following the attack which took place at the Belfast City Hospital Train Station at around 3.40pm on Monday, October 6.


It was reported that multiple people were assaulted during the incident by two suspects who fled in the direction of Donegall Road, with police now saying the incident is being treated as a racially motiviated hate crime.

Police have said two people who tried to intervene in the incident were injured, but not seriously.

The PSNI have said that CCTV of the suspects is not being released until all footage has been gathered as part of the investigation. It has said it will then consider if it is an investigative requirement to release any images or footage of suspects.


A PSNI spokesperson said: "The report is being treated as a racially-motivated hate crime. The injuries were not serious for the two people who intervened, and enquiries are ongoing. We would reiterate our appeal for information and witnesses.

"Anyone who witnessed what happened or has information that could help with our investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1080 06/10/25."
