Pomeroy Road 'serious' crash sees one person taken to hospital by Air Ambulance

The NIAS tasked two Emergency Ambulances and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS to the scene

One person has been taken to hospital after a "serious" crash in Co Tyrone on Friday morning.

Emergency services received reports of a road traffic collision in the Pomeroy Road area of Cookstown before 7am on October 10.

One person was treated by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service at the scene and then taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital by Air Ambulance.

An NIAS spokesperson said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 06:46 on Friday, 10 th October, following reports of an RTC in the Pomeroy Road area, Cookstown.

"NIAS tasked 2 Emergency Ambulances and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board, to the scene.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, 1 person was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by Air Ambulance."

The Pomeroy Road between the Drum Road and Drumnacross Road remains closed on Friday afternoon.

This morning, a PSNI spokesperson said: "The Pomeroy Road, Cookstown is closed at its junctions with the Drum Road and Drumnacross Road due to a serious road traffic collision.

"Road users are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route for your journey at this time."
