Police made the arrest in Strabane this evening following a 'paedophile hunter sting'

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual communication with a child following a 'paedophile hunter sting' in Strabane.

Police have arrested a man in his 40s following an incident in the Co Tyrone town on Saturday, October 11.

It comes following an incident involving a paedophile hunter group who confronted a man in Strabane, with a video of it circulating on social media.

The man in his 40s remains in police custody at this time.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A man in his 40s has been arrested in the Strabane area this afternoon, Saturday 11th October, on suspicion of attempted sexual communication with a child. "He remains in custody at this time."
