A major road in East Belfast was closed for several hours on Monday, September 29 due to a serious crash. One person has been taken to hospital following the incident on Sunday, September 27.
A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed that it received a 999 call at 23:48 on Sunday, September 27 following reports of a road traffic collision in the Castlereagh Road area, Belfast.
A spokesperson added: "NIAS tasked two Emergency Ambulance crews to the scene. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance."
Police earlier said the Castlereagh Road was closed to traffic in both directions due to the serious road traffic collision involving a motorbike and skip. Closures were in place at Clara Street and the Beersbridge Road. A number of side streets were also closed.
The road has since reopened.

Latest from the scene
A police operation is continuing in the area following the earlier collision involving a motorbike and skip. There are still no details of any casualties. A police cordon is in place as investigations continue.
The extensively damaged motorbike has just been removed from the scene. Motorists and school children are still being diverted away from the area.

Road closure expected until lunchtime
The Castlereagh Road remains closed in both directions from the junction of the Beersbridge road to Clara Street, due to a serious road traffic incident and is likely to remain closed until lunch time today.
Road users should continue to avoid the area and if possible seek an alternative route for their journrey.
