Irish rugby fans fume over 'ludicrous' ticket prices for autumn internationals at Aviva
The IRFU released additional tickets for Ireland's upcoming Autumn Internationals against Japan, Australia and South Africa on Wednesday, but the prices have left fans outraged
Rugby fans have expressed their outrage over the steep ticket prices for Ireland's forthcoming international matches in Dublin. Andy Farrell's team is set to take on Japan, Australia and South Africa at the Aviva Stadium next month, following a face-off with the All Blacks in Chicago. The IRFU made available a limited number of extra tickets for the three Dublin games on Wednesday.
However, the cost of these tickets has sparked fury among supporters, with the least expensive ticket for the South Africa match priced at €156.60, while it's €126.60 for Australia and €81.60 for Japan. These prices, coupled with the exorbitant hotel rates in Dublin, are deterring many fans from attending matches at the Aviva, with several expressing their dissatisfaction online.
One individual posted: "Honestly don't think I'll ever be going to an international game again, I could have a holiday abroad for nearly the same price it would cost me to travel up from the west of Ireland and stay the night," reports the Irish Mirror.
Another remarked: "Looked at ticket prices, turning genuine people off attending international games." A third person stated: "Ridiculous prices , I checked out ticket prices for France v South Africa and Australia at Stade cheapest prices are €78 for the boks game and I think €69 for the wallabies , I reckon those matches will be vastly superior to the ones in Aviva."
Another comment read: "Trying to keep kids interested in rugby, yet pricing families out of attending international games."
The ticket prices are significantly steeper than for other sporting events at the Aviva, with prices for the Ireland football team's match against Armenia next Tuesday starting from €55, while they start at €27.95 for next month's FAI Cup final between Shamrock Rovers and Cork, which is scheduled the day after the Japan game.
In contrast, tickets for next weekend's URC clash between Leinster and Munster at Croke Park can be snapped up from just €22.95.
