Investigation after dual language sign cut with angle grinder in East Belfast

A dual language sign in East Belfast has been cut down and removed with an angle grinder as police launch an investigation into the "hate-motivated criminal damage".
The sign featuring the Irish language had been installed at Shandon Park, but was removed at around 8.15pm on Saturday, October 11, by someone using an angle grinder.
An investigation has now been launched into the incident with police appealing for anyone with any information regarding it to contact them.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for information following a report of hate-motivated criminal damage to an Irish language street sign in east Belfast tonight, Saturday 11th October. "The white sign to Shandon Park was cut with an angle grinder with the Irish language removed sometime around 8.15pm. "Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 1298 11/10/25. "Information can also be provided using the online non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport "You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org."
