Indian street food chain Mowgli issues update on opening of first Belfast restaurant

A popular Indian street food chain is set to open in Belfast city centre. has issued an update on when customers will be able to dine.
Mowgli has more than20 restaurants across the UK, including two in London, Manchester, two in Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Cheltenham, Cardiff, and more.
The chain was set to open its first location in Northern Ireland at Victoria Square this summer.
A post on Instagram on Friday confirmed that the street food restaurant is still planning to open the unit in the popular shopping centre but opening has been pushed back until next year.
A spokesperson said: "We are still very excited to be taking Mowgli to Belfast- We are coming I promise you!
"It will be 2026 - watch this space and we will keep you posted on the date."
Founder and CEO of Mowgli Street Food, Nisha Katona MBE started the business after giving up her 20-year career as a barrister in 2014 as she had a "nagging obsession to build an eatery serving the kind of food Indians eat at home and on their streets".
Announcing the first NI location earlier this year, she said: "Sure enough I’m so excited to announce Mowgli Belfast!! At last!
"I have such a heart for Northern Ireland. I spent many a happy summer with my friend Fizz on her farm in Coleraine and with her family in Holywood.
"We would eat dulce on bike rides in the day and passeggiata Portstewart in the evening. It’s an epic part of the world and I’m proud to take my chat bombs to the immense people of Belfast."
