Full list of NI Claire's stores set to close amid rescue deal

It was announced last week that Claire's had been rescued by investment firm Modella Capital but only half of the brand's 300 stores across the UK will survive

Claire's is set to close 145 stores across the UK and Ireland after a rescue deal for the popular fashion accessories chain only saved half of the business.

It was announced last week that Claire's had been rescued by investment firm Modella Capital, which bought the majority of the company's operations and assets from administrators.

However, the deal will only save just over half of the chain's 300 outlets around the UK and Ireland, and 145 branches were not included,https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/claires-accessories-appoint-administrators-15-32259575

Administrator Interpath said it will keep the 145 stores open as long as possible while it explores other options but it is reported that clearance sales are already starting at some of the outlets.

The list of Northern Ireland Claire's stores earmarked for closure is:

  • Diamond Centre, Coleraine
  • Bloomfield Shopping Centre, Bangor
  • Ards Shopping Centre, Newtownards
  • Bow Street Mall, Lisburn
  • The Quays, Newry
  • Erneside Shopping Centre, Enniskillen

Final closure dates will vary by location. Claire's called in administrators for its UK and Ireland operations last month after filing for bankruptcy in the United States.

Modella, the new owner, has become a significant player in the UK retail sector since it was set up in 2022, having also acquired WH Smith's high street division earlier this year. Last year, Modella took over arts and crafts chain Hobbycraft and the firm has also invested in Ted Baker.

Natasha Harbinson, Managing Director at Interpath, said: "We are pleased to confirm a sale of the majority of Claire's UK business and assets which will ensure this popular brand will continue to trade on high streets up and down the UK."
