Casualty taken to hospital after person gets into difficulty in North Coast water
The air ambulance and Coastguard were called to the scene
A person has been taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in the water off the North Coast this afternoon.
The emergency services, including the police, ambulance service and Coastguard were called to Downhill beach, Co Derry, at 1.33pm on Tuesday, September 2, following reports that a person got into difficulty in the water.
The person, who is believed to be a man in his 30s, was treated at the beach after being removed form the water and was later taken to hospital.
The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.
A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "At around 1.33pm, HM Coastguard received reports of a person in the water at Downhill beach, Northern Ireland. Coleraine Coastguard Rescue Team and an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter were sent, and the casualty received medical assistance on the shore before being taken to hospital by ambulance for onwards care.
"Police Service Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were also in attendance."
