Belfast men hail community support after new gym launch

"The Shared Space project is about bringing people together"

The opening of new gym facilities in Belfast has been hailed as a "major milestone", with the owners praising the community for its support already.

Ox | Performance officially opened its doors this month at the Black Mountain Shared Space, a cross-community space located off the Springfield Road.

The launch event was deemed a huge success — drawing in families and locals from across the community. Visitors enjoyed a tour of the state-of-the-art gym before joining in a family fun day filled with bouncy castles, slides, live music, food and treats for the kids. The day created "a real buzz and showcased the positive impact the Shared Space aims to bring to the area".

Founded by local coaches Caoimin Magee and Gary Dorian, Ox | Performance is a semi-private training facility designed to offer a "premium training experience" that is still welcoming and accessible. Members sign up on a monthly subscription that provides access to small-group personal training sessions as well as structured conditioning classes.

Caomin and Gary say Ox | Performance will cater to the general public of all ages, shapes and sizes, while also supporting athletes looking for performance-focused training. With over 20 years of combined coaching experience, the pair bring a wealth of knowledge and pride themselves on creating a supportive, results-driven environment.

Speaking after the event, they said: "We’re delighted with the turnout and the support we’ve had from the community. The Shared Space project is about bringing people together, and it was brilliant to see so many families enjoying the day. We’re excited now to focus on delivering the best training experience possible for our members.

"With the launch complete, Ox | Performance is now focused on building its membership base and establishing itself as a hub for health, fitness and community in West Belfast."
