Belfast comedy club hosting all day stand-up relay to raise funds for riot victims
The events for CQ Big Comedy Weekender will take place from July 4 to 6 in the city centre
A comedy club in Belfast city centre is hosting a unique all-day stand-up relay to raise funds for people who have been affected by recent disorder across Northern Ireland.
The event is part of the first Cathedral Quarter Big Comedy Weekender taking place from July 4-6. The festival was created to showcase the best and brightest lights of local comedy as well as some hilarious guests to the city.
Many of the acts taking part will be taking their sets to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, making CQ Big Comedy Weekender an ideal chance to catch their work beforehand.
Venues involved include The Black Box (Green Room too), The Sunflower, Ulster Sports Club, Union St and The Oh Yeah Centre.
To round off the weekend, on Sunday, July 6, CQ Big Comedy Weekender are teaming up with comedy club 'No Joke', which is based in Out of Office in Ulster Sports Club.
They will be putting on a unique all-day stand-up relay event, featuring over 20 acts, to raise funds for those affected by recent rioting across Northern Ireland. Doors for the event will open at 12.30pm.
An event organiser said: "This is to raise money for those whose homes have been affected by the racist riots of the last two weeks. We hope through laughs for a good cause we can raise some money to repair some of the damage of the last two weeks have caused."
The team at CQ Big Comedy Weekender say they have worked hard to keep tickets for the shows affordable, with no ticket costing more than £10.
