Amazon Prime reduces £219 hair straightener 'far better than ghd' to £139
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days has slashed the price of the popular beauty gift set
Amazon has launched its Prime Big Deal Days, offering Prime members discounts on hundreds of gadgets. One offer that might interest beauty fans has seen a £219 hair straightener reduced to £139. Cloud Nine's The Wide Iron Hair Straightener Gift Set has glowing reviews from shoppers, with one fan suggesting the beauty tool is "better than ghd."
According to the product description, the Wide Iron Hair Straightener offers "100-200°C for styling at lower temperatures without the unnecessary heat damage," and the plates are infused with "healing minerals to seal the hair's cuticle and lock in moisture for shinier hair every time you style."
The gift set also includes a heat-resistant style case and a protective heat guard. The product description adds that the Wide Iron automatically comes with a free three-year warranty.
Elsewhere, beauty fans might prefer the REVAMP Enigma Wide Ionic Radiance Ceramic Hair Straightener. It's currently on sale at Boots, down from £149.99 to £59.99. The mdlondon PHAT Hair Straightener is also on sale from £129 to £89, and Dyson has slashed the Dyson Airstrait dryer and straightener from £449.99 to £299.99.
Amazon says the straightener's "wide plates are designed for kinder styling for bigger, thicker, longer hair." The styling device is popular with reviewers, achieving an average score of 4.8 out of five and hundreds of five-star reviews, reports the Mirror.
One shopper claimed: "After reviewing various hair straighteners and previously owning GHDs I purchased these as me and my daughters all have long thick hair, and wow they don’t disappoint, I’d ordered the revamps weeks before and found them not to be very good, but these are next level! Bit pricey, but otherwise amazing and by far better than GHDs!!!"
A second thought: "Brilliant straighteners. Been a GHD user for years including platinum ones, every pair through the years always ended up giving up on me so decided to change the brand this time. I prefer the slightly wider plates and my hair looks really healthy and sleek. They also came with a silicon heat guard and a lovely carry case for storing/travelling so much better value. I think I’ll be sticking to this brand from now on."
However, there were some shoppers who weren't happy. One unimpressed reply said: "I have had ceramic tech straightening irons for at least 15 years (have had no problems with them) but decided to get a new pair, I bought cloud nines and I must say they are not as good as my ceramic techs!"
Another read: "On the face of it, these are good. But they don’t last. After less than 2 years of light - moderate use, they have abruptly given up on me. Completely dead. I would expect a considerably longer lifespan for such an expensive bit of kit. Very disappointed. I will return to GHD."
Nevertheless, the praise for the beauty tool continued. Additional positive feedback read: "So much better than my old GHD’s. Could not believe how good they are. They keep my naturally curly hair straight for 3-4 days."
